“Hanna” U.S. Western Ranching Documentary to Debut May 16 in NYC and LA

“Hanna Ranch: One Cowboy’s Fight for Family and Land” is scheduled to air May 16 in New York City and Los Angeles, and be distributed in digital formats the following week.

The documentary is about rancher Kirk Hanna, in his mission to protect range land in Colorado from development and unsustainable range management. He was known as the “eco-cowboy”, championing holistic range management practices, was a leader with numerous environmental groups and served as president of the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association.

The storyline follows a common thread of the threats to the ranching traditions and fragmentation of the rural west, as the ranching family endures personal tragedy, financial challenges and family issues pushing a split of the ranch.

Hanna Ranch was the 2014 documentary selection of both the Starz Denver Film Festival and the Durango Independent Film Festival in 2014.
